My name is Juan Contreras, and I am proud to serve as the new 1st Assistant Golf Professional here at Picacho Hills Country Club. I grew up in Deming, New Mexico, and have been passionate about the game of golf since the age of 14. In high school, I was honored to be a New Mexico 5A State Champion and to represent New Mexico at the National High School Golf Championship at Pinehurst, an experience that solidified my desire to pursue a career in golf.
I began my journey at Picacho Hills two years ago, starting in outside services and working my way up through dedication, professionalism, and a commitment to improving the member experience. Over the past two summers, I’ve gained valuable insight through internships at premier facilities — including Pinehurst Resort & Country Club, where I had the privilege of working the 2024 U.S. Open, North & South Amateur Championship, and U.S. Kids World Championships, as well as Maridoe Golf Club, host of LIV Golf Dallas.
I am currently enrolled in the PGA Golf Management program, where I continue to build my skills in player development, operations, and leadership. Each step in my journey has deepened my appreciation for the game and strengthened my passion for growing the sport.
As 1st Assistant Golf Professional, I look forward to supporting our members, mentoring our staff, and continuing to build a welcoming and memorable golf experience at Picacho Hills.
